Lucknow: In a rare and dramatic moment, Cavalry Riders of CalcuttaStriker wicketkeeper Angkrish Raghuvanshi was on Sunday cleared for obstructing the pitch during their Indian Premier League match against Lucknow Super Giants here.
Raghuvanshi was not happy with the decision and even argued his case with the on-field umpires, but the Mumbai batsman had to ultimately accept the call made against him.
On the last ball of the fifth over by Prince Yadav, Raghuvanshi pushed one through mid-on and went for a run. However, a few steps down, Cameron Green was asked to turn back.
As he also entered the ‘danger zone’ in the field while going back, Raghuvanshi came to the line of the throw from Mohammed Shami with the ball hitting his body as he set a dive to make the crease.
Third umpire Rohit Pandit upheld Shami and LSG’s appeal for Raghuvanshi’s obstruction in the field of play and declared KKR out, which left the visitors reeling at 27 for three after five overs.
KKR head coach Abhishek Nayar was seen arguing with the fourth umpire while Raghuvanshi threw his helmet in frustration.
