Emmy Award-winning journalist and television personality Katie Couric spoke to members of the media on the red carpet at the City Harvest GALA 2026 in New York City.
City harvest is a nonprofit organization as well as New York’s first and largest food rescue organization.
Couric serves as co-founder of Katie Couric Mediaand she hosts her own podcast, The Next Question with Katie Couric.
Katie Couric on the importance of City Harvest and its work
Of the importance of the City Harvest charity and its work, Couric said, “It’s such a blessing to be a part of this event.”
“City Harvest does so much for so many New Yorkers in need. Anything I can do to support their work and efforts, and lasting legacy, is exciting to me,” Couric admitted.

Advice for young and emerging journalists
For young and aspiring journalists, Couric noted, “This is such a short question, but it calls for a long answer. I think journalism is one of the most important jobs, if not the most important job in the world, especially right now.”
“There’s a lot of journalism going on,” she noted. “You just have to adapt and make sure you’re delivering information in a way and on a platform where people are consuming it. So you have to be adaptable,” Couric added.
Katie Couric defines success
Regarding her definition of success, Couric said, “Success means freedom and being able to make choices that you wouldn’t otherwise be able to make.”
