Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Wednesday’s (April 22) episode, which is now available to watch Channel 4 broadcast. The episode in question will be broadcast on E4 at 7pm.
Rex Gallagher (Jonny Labey) was shocked after 15-year-old Ro Hutchinson (Leo Cole) tried to kiss her.
Ro, as viewers know, got a job at the garage earlier this year after expressing an interest in becoming a mechanic. He and Rex developed a friendship in the months that followed as they worked on cars together.
Ro has proven to be supportive of Rex, who has struggled after both Grace Black (Tamara’s wall) and Froggy Black’s (John Middleton) dead.
As viewers know, Rex experimented with identitydressed in women’s clothes, which – as Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) told him earlier this week –it makes him feel free.
Ste claimed he was fine with Rex’s experimentation, but when the mechanic returned to The Loft in a woman’s T-shirt, he fought back – and attacked Jenson Cole (Ryan Clayton), who thought he was mocking Rex.
Rex was devastated by his fiance’s reaction and headed to the garage, where he proceeded to smash a car. Ro heard the commotion and arrived at the bar to find Rex in tears, demanding to know what had happened.
Rex filled Ro in the explosion of Ste. The teenager was upset about Rex, claiming that he deserved someone who loved him ‘no matter what’. In an unexpected scene, Ro leaned in for a kiss, much to the shock of Rex, who promptly shut her down, reminding her that she was only 15 years old.
Ro was heartbroken, saying that he loved Rex, but Rex reiterated that Ro is a child, making it clear that he would never take advantage of a child because he is nothing like his father.
This left Ro confused and, as he asked more questions, Rex discovered this his father Frazer raped Graceconfirming that Grace was his mother.
Ro was taken aback and asked Rex to trust Ste, asking Rex to forget that he tried to kiss her.
But Rex didn’t know that Ste was busy rekindling his romance with ex James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan), as they spent the night together at Dee Valley Law after James came to the rescue of Ste, who had been arrested for his brawl at The Loft.
