IPL 2026 | Rohit Sharma all but ruled out for Mumbai Indians’ clash against Punjab Kings


Mumbai: Rohit Sharma is out of selection for Mumbai Indians Indian Premier League (IPL) clash against Punjab Kings on Thursday and is currently being evaluated by the team’s medical staff.

Rohit was out during MI’s innings in the sixth wicket after experiencing groin discomfort during Sunday’s high-scoring match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Rohit was hitting 19 off 13 balls when he retired injured, with Mumbai Indians losing the match by 18 runs – their third straight defeat this season.

“The medical team and the training staff are evaluating him and we will get to know him,” a team official said during Mi’s training session on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, England all-rounder Will Jacks is “on his way” to join the Mumbai Indians squad after missing all four of their matches so far this season and is set to miss Thursday’s game as well.

Jacks, along with New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner, who has now played two matches so far, had sought an extended period of time before joining the squad in India.
