Thierry Henry BELIEVE Arsenal may face trouble in them Champions League quarterfinals if Sporting CP uses tactics similar to Bournemouth.
Arsenal have a 1-0 lead going into the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday night. after their win in Lisbon last week.
However, Mikel Arteta’s side go into the game at the Emirates Stadium on the back of a 2-1 defeat at home to Bournemouth in the Premier League.which has reduced the advantage over Manchester City at the top of the table to six points.
Arsenal put in an unconvincing performance in the home defeat to Bournemouth as they struggled to create clear-cut chances in attack and failed to overcome the pressure from Andoni Iraola’s men in their own half.
If they knock out Sporting on Wednesday night, Arsenal will play Atletico Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals and Henry believes a positive result could help the side ‘make a statement’ in their crucial Premier League clash against Manchester City this Sunday.
“If you are Sporting, if you see the way Man City played Arsenal and the way Bournemouth played Arsenal at the weekend, the way they pressured early doors 4-2-4, Arsenal didn’t have an answer to get out of that,” Henry told CBS Sports.
“I don’t know what Sporting will do, but yes, it’s very important that Arsenal win the game and make sure they can prepare for the game we’re all waiting for, what time is it.
“Because for a very long time, I wasn’t even focusing on Bournemouth, even before Bournemouth won, I wasn’t focusing on that, I wanted that game, if I was a player, I want to win in a statement, I want to make a statement.
“I’m not saying it’s going to be easy, but that’s what I’m expecting.”
Asked if he prefers to face Arsenal Atletico Madrid after they crashed BarcelonaHenry replied: ‘We’ll see. We have to beat Sporting.
“They (Atletico) can celebrate, we’re not there yet.”
