Matters of faith
The last generation I would have taken for granted Sony know what they are doing, as a great general and obviously when it comes to something like no charging too much for PlayStation 6. But right now… I just don’t have that level of trust in them anymore.
Besides everything, PS5 Pros, and hers the recent increase in pricesshows that they have come out of the bottom when it comes to prices. Now, the PS5 Pro is supposed to be a high-end machine (although I’m not sure that’s a particularly good idea), but would that stop them trying to charge as much as they can for PlayStation 6? I’m not so sure.
The PlayStation 6 might not be more expensive than a PS5 Pro, but that’s all I’d be willing to bet on. The whole world of console gaming has become very expensive, but if there’s one company that’s going to turn it around, I wouldn’t bet on it being Sony, especially since they’re doing so well at the moment and definitely feel unstoppable.

Strange decision
As the other reader said, it’s strange to see so much detail Nintendo leaks, but given the resources, you can’t really argue against it at this point. I am also all for one new Star Fox game but it seems another strange priority, in a string of strange priorities for the Switch 2.

Why is there? Star Fox and Pikmin confirmed for new Mario movie but not Metroid or F-Zero? They’re both much older sci-fi franchises for Nintendo, and technically Metroid has crossed paths with Mario before in Super Mario RPG! And at the time the movie was planned, they had no idea that Metroid Prime 4 would be a flop, so it’s a real conundrum.
It might just be a surprise, but at this point I think there would be more people who would know Samus Aran than Fox McCloud, maybe Pikmin too. Not for the first time I hope Nintendo knows what they’re doing, because despite what some people think, they’re not always right.

PS: Probably the reason Nintendo hasn’t announced a new one Animal Crossing because they knew that the Pokémon Pokopia was covering similar ground. Although they could not have known that it would be reviewed as well as it did.
Hidden talents
We just saw the latest numbers for how well Fallout The TV show has made a second season and I wonder if I’m the only one who doesn’t understand? The show is okay, I’m not saying it’s bad, but it doesn’t stand out in any particular way to me. I’ve watched all the episodes and I don’t regret the time I spent on them, but then again, if I’d never seen it, I’d feel like I’d been missing out.
It just seems such a strange thing to be so popular. But then I suppose being middle of the road and helpless is probably the secret to success for most things. So… well done Bethesda, I guess?
The fact that they still haven’t managed to release so much as a remaster since the explosion of the first season is kind of funny. They are so slow and untouchable it’s kind of funny. I really think Bethesda could be much better at making TV shows than those games. They are definitely much faster at this.

Not complaining, but honestly curious as to why the site doesn’t have a comment section for articles.
I assume revenue is generated from ads, so impressions, hovers, CTR?
I have read this article and was tickled by how deliberately provocative it was. I think you published it because it was prime material to generate engagement. When I scrolled down and saw the comments section, I was at a loss. Maybe posted because it made you all laugh?
Wouldn’t you get so much more traffic by letting readers respond and then refreshing the page, asking for responses?

GC: All of our articles have comment sections, including this one. If you can’t see them, it’s probably because you’re using an ad blocker or similar add-on. Please don’t do this.
Limited preview
I saw a few different websites/magazines that had a preview with Saros last week. I was hoping you would too and I have been waiting for an article from you. Was that the case or do you need a preview before it comes out in a month?
Lizardpudlian
GC: We’re afraid not. Sony does very little in the way of press these days and there were only two or three UK sites that got to see Saros. That didn’t include us, Eurogamer, or many others. However, it’s still one of our most anticipated games of the year.
Useful progress
In response to John’s question yesterday about exploring in the Minishoot’ Adventuresthe next dungeon should be marked on the overworld map (even if you haven’t collected the specific map fragment for that area). Early enough, you can save a character who returns to your home base and will mark all the places of interest on the collected map fragments. There’s another character in your home base – again accessible at the reasonable start – who sells a compass that appears on the map when a location is fully completed.
With these, it should be a little easier to pick up the game after a break and identify where you’ve been and where you need to go next.
Navigation can be confusing, but you gain an upgrade around mid-game that makes it much easier to navigate the map (there’s also an item you can pick up that lets you quickly return to your base). The biggest thing I felt was missing were the dungeon maps, especially when going back to find all the collectibles. But none of the dungeons are widespread enough to become anything more than a minor quibble.
I hope you get to a point where the upgrades allow you to enjoy the game a little more because there’s a lot to like!

Useful character
There’s some help for John in Minishoot’ Adventures. There is a ship/robot/guy (whatever your type is) that you can find inhabiting the central village.
It will update your map for you and show the places where there is still something to catch and put ticks in the caves and what else you have washed. I’ve been using this to grab extra upgrades to make life easier for myself. I think I’m on the last dungeon now and about 60% done, so maybe I can stick around to treasure hunt for a bit before I’m done.

Fun by the pound
Managed to grab a second hand PS5 Pro disc edition for £480 just days before the price hike was announced. Considering I brought my PS5 Slim disc edition over a year ago for £300, I think if I sell it I’ll probably get more than I paid for. I also managed to sell some graphics cards a few years ago. I got about 50% more than I paid when they hit with rockets.
All in all, it’s been a decade of cheap gaming for me compared to when I was a kid buying N64s, Saturns and the like. I think people forget that anything they buy always has resale value – physical anyway – and while I’m glad I’m in a position where I can afford to splurge every now and then. and I haven’t been hit by the recent hikes. It’s always worth remembering that for the fun I get out of my games, compared to buying a coffee or going out for the day it’s relatively cheap per hour.
I bought Resident Evil the other day for £58, played about 36 hours and then sold for £40, which is less than 50p an hour for that experience. Of course the prices going up years after the generation is crazy and I’m not saying there’s anything good about that, but with a bit of smart shopping I honestly think games are pretty cheap these days.

Inbox-ka too
You just could Resident Evil Requiem and I have to agree that the last few hours are definitely the worst. The final boss is awful and makes no sense, and there’s no reason why Grace is even important – especially since it seems to contradict what happened at the beginning of the movie. Great game, but it feels like Capcom had to rush the ending for some reason.
Golem
Don’t worry about a new 3D Mario, why don’t we have a sequel yet Sound limits? Even if you didn’t like it, I thought it was universally recognized as the best 3D game? I would expect a quick sequel not a long wait like this.
