Lola Young’s debut in the public eye was difficult, with the already forced star cancel her entire tour when she health was questioned.
After the release of the hit song MessyLola was finding her position in the global spotlight with a distinctive vocal social media answer.
Stars and fans rallied around the 25-year-old singer after she collapsed on stage and revealed she was struggling with drug addiction.
Apparently, while taking a break from the industry, she received some surprising advice from the singer Lily Allen.
Lily, 40, told her: “If someone comes up to you asking for a photo, ask them what three songs they know about yours.”
of Spiders said the singer The Times in a new interview she replied: ‘I can’t do that, Lily!’
While she didn’t want to talk too much about her addiction, Lola confirmed she was fine after vomiting mid-performance at Coachella.
“What I would say is that recovery is an ongoing process,” she said. “I’m not the finished article, but I’m doing a lot better.”
After two stints in rehab, she is now said to be living in a holistic facility and attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.
She’s more protective of her composure these days, having taken a break and admitting she no longer reads comments on social media.
Her big comeback was at the Grammys, which the Crush singer said wasn’t planned but worked out perfectly.
“You never know when the time is right, as an artist, when you’ve taken a break. It was a difficult decision to make – I canceled an entire tour that I was really excited to do,” she said.
In another interview, she said Rolling Stone she was glad she had hit ‘a breaking point’ as it had allowed her ‘to be here today’.
She added: “It allowed me to be better for my fans, better for the future and better for myself.”
At Coachella in April 2025, Lola was forced to leave the stage in tears and feeling like she was going to vomit during the performance.
“Not me doing my first Coachella and talking and throwing up the entire set,” she wrote on TikTok, adding: “It’s getting really bad here guys.”
Months later, she collapsed while on stage, writing in a statement: “I’m going away for a while.
“It pains me to say that I have to cancel everything for the foreseeable future. Thank you for all the love and support. I’m so sorry to disappoint anyone who bought a ticket to see me, it hurts more than you know.’
Since then, Lola has performed at a select few events and is set to play Radio 1’s biggest weekend in Sunderland this summer.
