Hubballi: Coastal districts continued to receive good rainfall while the rest of Karnataka witnessed a dry spell on Saturday.
The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Center (KSNDMC) report says only 22% of the state has received at least 2.5 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours.
Madamakki in Udupi district received 99.5 mm of rainfall in the day, while Neriya village in Dakshina Kannada received 94.5 mm of rainfall.
Udupi district, including Udupi city, and Brahmavar, Kundapur, Kaup and Karkala taluks received moderate to heavy intermittent rains on Saturday. The district administration had declared holiday for schools and colleges on Saturday due to orange alert warning issued by IMD.
The subdued rains in the Western Ghats also meant that the flow in many reservoirs in the state decreased. The Narayanpur balancing reservoir, which until last week was receiving zero inflow and was only 55% full, on Saturday was 94% full as officials are discharging more than 66,692 cusecs of water from the Almatti reservoir.
In the last 24 hours, the 14 reservoirs of the state received 15.7 mcft of water.
