A Wednesday report from NBC News is raising concerns about the President Donald Trump may have a rosy picture of the war he started with Iran.
According to for NBC News, the US military Officials show Trump a two-minute daily video montage of operations carried out in the Iran war, showing the “biggest, most successful attacks on Iranian targets,” with one official telling NBC that the video basically consists of “things blowing up.”
Two administration sources told NBC that “the video conference is fueling concerns among some of Trump’s allies that he may not be getting — or absorbing — the full picture of the war,” and one official told the network that “the information Trump is getting about the war tends to emphasize U.S. successes, with relatively little detail about Iranian actions.”
The video montages are also leaving the president confused as to why the media is covering the negative consequences of the war, which he believes is an unqualified success, NBC reported.
“Every day the Pentagon makes a video of the cool explosions from Iran for the president of the United States to watch, so he can jump up and down in his high chair, clap his little hands, and shout ‘Wow! Make it go again!”
MS NOW columnist Paul Waldman
Critics of the president were quick to criticize him and his administration over the reported montage of the war’s highlights.
“Looks like Trump is getting a CENTCOM propaganda video about things blowing up every day.” commented Foreign policy reporter Laura Rozen, “but not being informed when things go wrong.”
Anthony Zurcher, BBC North America Correspondent, has written that it appears Trump is “getting a very rosy picture from his generals about how an unpopular war is going.”
MS NOW columnist Paul Waldman claimed that the president’s behavior as described in the NBC report was positively childish.
“Every day, The Pentagon makes a video of cool explosions from Iran for the president of United States to see,” has written Waldman, “so he can jump up and down in his high chair and clap his little hands and yell ‘Well! Make it go again!’
National Security Attorney Bradley Moss summed up the NBC report in a single five-word sentence: “The emperor has no brain.”
