“What you do makes a difference to you, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.”
It’s easy to underestimate the impact of our daily actions, even small decisions can affect the people and world around us. Through this quote, Jane Goodall reminds us that every action leaves a mark, the only question is what kind of mark we choose to leave.
Meaningful change begins with choices made every day. Our habits, words, and behavior often have a greater impact than we realize. Instead of waiting for an opportunity to do something extraordinary, the quote encourages us to realize that ordinary actions can create lasting positive change.
Every person has the ability to make a difference and that change starts with the decisions they make every day.
Jane Goodall was a British primatologist, anthropologist and conservationist, widely regarded as one of the world’s leading experts on chimpanzees. Her groundbreaking research in Tanzania’s Gombe Stream National Park transformed scientists’ understanding of animal behavior as she discovered that chimpanzees make and use tools, a discovery that challenged long-held beliefs about what separates humans from other species.
Beyond her scientific work, Goodall became a global advocate for wildlife conservation, environmental protection and youth-led action. She founded the Jane Goodall Institute in 1977 and later launched the Roots & Shoots program, which empowers young people in more than 70 countries to take action for their communities, animals and the environment.
Her work has earned her numerous international honors, including being nominated as a United Nations Messenger of Peace.
